City of Gainesville seeks artists for RTS project

Published on April 27, 2026

The City of Gainesville Cultural Affairs Division invites individual artists and teams to participate in a public art opportunity at the site of the city's future Regional Transit System (RTS) Eastside Transfer Station facility on Southeast 20th Street. The deadline to submit qualifications is Monday, May 25.

Submissions should integrate functional, site-specific artwork into transit infrastructure and focus on transforming everyday elements-such as bike racks, benches, seating, decorative fencing and tree guards-into meaningful public art that enhances the rider experience and reflects the identity of Gainesville.

Submissions are open to professional artists with experience in large-scale, site-specific work. They are encouraged to consider clarity and communication in their work, incorporating representational, narrative or commemorative approaches that connect with the public and strengthen a sense of place.
