Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners serve two-year terms and are elected in the general election during every even numbered year.

Anyone interested in being a candidate for the ANC on the November 2026 ballot must first circulate a nominating petition, which can be picked up at the Board of Elections.

The first date to pick up nominating petitions for ANC this year is Monday, July 6, 2026. Each candidate has a signature requirement of at least 25 registered qualified electors in the single-member district from which the candidate seeks election.

Candidates will have until Wednesday, August 5, 2026 (5:00 p.m.) to file nominating petitions, petition supplements, and Declarations of Candidacy with the Board of Elections.
