On 18 November, the Film Translation and Production Center of China Media Group (CMG) and its Asia-Pacific Bureau jointly held an offline screening of the documentary film Hotline Beijing in Auckland. Consul General Chen Shijie attended the event and delivered remarks. Mayor Wayne Brown and around one hundred representatives from various sectors of the consular district were also present.
Consul General Chen stated that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has outlined a grand blueprint for China's development over the next five years and elaborated deeply on the people-centered development philosophy. The grassroots governance practices documented in Hotline Beijing are fully aligned with the spirit of the plenary session, serving as a vivid reflection of top-level design implemented at the community level. China is willing to work with New Zealand to promote mutual learning among civilizations and the exchange of governance experience, advance the sound and steady development of bilateral relations, and further enhance the well-being of the two peoples.
Hotline Beijing focuses on the "12345" citizen service hotline and, through a documentary approach, tells the story of Beijing's innovative practices in deepening the "responding to people's concerns" reform. The film won the Best Documentary/Science & Education Film Award at the 38th China Golden Rooster Awards.
