JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - A project to widen and extend the ramp from Business Loop 44 to westbound Interstate 44 at Exit 159 in St. Robert is set to begin tomorrow, Tuesday, April 14, with the closure of the ramp. The ramp has been closed intermittently since late March for the safety of the traveling public during daily blasting operations. Contractors working with the Missouri Department of Transportation plan to begin the around-the-clock closure tomorrow at 7 a.m. The ramp is expected to reopen at the end of June. Motorists will need to use an alternate route.
The ramp improvements are part of a larger project to enhance safety and drivability along the I-44 corridor, including the addition of climbing lanes in each direction between Exit 159 and mile marker 157.2.
All work is weather-permitting and subject to change.
