The 31st Annual Stony Brook Film Festival Kicks Off July 16

The annual Stony Brook Film Festival (SBFF) returns to the Staller Center July 16-25, featuring 36 films from 23 countries showcased over 10 days, including features and shorts spanning drama, comedy, documentary and international cinema. This year's festival includes international stories and perspectives from around the globe, with films exploring family, identity, historic and current events, and human connection.

Opening night on July 16 features the New York premiere of Once Upon My Mother, an inspiring true story of a mother's resilience and determination. Filmmaker Q&As and after-parties accompany many screenings, offering audiences direct access to filmmakers, cast and crew. The festival's Closing Night film on July 25 is the blockbuster-feeling Swiss hit Hello Betty, telling the story of the woman behind Switzerland's most beloved culinary icon.

And don't miss a special encore screening of the SBFF award-winning film Westhampton on July 26 at Stony Brook Southampton's Avram Theater, featuring a reception and filmmaker Q&A; admission is free, with an RSVP recommended.

Ticket Information

With festival passes starting at $75 and single tickets at $15, the 10 days of international cinema, filmmaker Q&As and special events are accessible to the entire community.
