FORKS - As emergency repair work on the US 101 Hoh River Bridge wraps up, travelers should prepare for six nights of overnight closures to break down the work site.
The Hoh River Bridge is on track to reopen at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 13. That will mark the end of the around-the-clock closures for this repair. The Washington State Department of Transportation has closed the bridge three times for a period of six days each since Sept. 24 for emergency work after inspectors found cracks in a support beam and steel members under the bridge.
Beginning the same night, Oct. 13, the bridge will close from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following morning for six nights. Travelers should alter trips, if possible, during the closure or prepare for hours-long detours.
During these final overnight closures, contractor crews will remove the scaffolding used to perform the bridge repairs.
Once all work is complete, US 101 at the Hoh River Bridge will be open to one-way alternating traffic 24 hours a day. Emergency repairs were conducted to return some public access to the structure while longer-term steps are determined.
