RALEIGH - Campbell Law School held its annual swearing-in ceremony for 22 recent graduates at the law school on Friday, Oct. 9, hosted by the Campbell Law Alumni Association.
The Honorable Damion McCullers '03, a Wake County District Court judge, and the Honorable Jeffrey Foster '90, a Superior Court Judge in Judicial District 3A in Greenville, administered the oath of office and led the swearing-in of the Campbell Law alumni who passed the July 2026 North Carolina Bar Examination.
McCullers told the group gathered in the Dupree Courtroom, "What an honor and exciting day for all of you. This day is the culmination of all your hard work and everything that you have done … You are going to be a Campbell lawyer."
Foster concluded his remarks in the Britt Courtroom saying, "Campbell lawyers stand out in life. I can always tell in my court who the Campbell lawyers are … They have the quality of life that not everyone has, so I want you to go out and be ready to exemplify those same things, and I know that you will."
Alumni Ann Oschmer '11 and Mark Scruggs '86, both representing the Campbell Law Alumni Association, gave the welcome and opening remarks to their respective groups.
Oschmer told the group in the Britt Courtroom the Alumni Association is there to support "you all as you transition into your careers and we encourage you to be a part of it because your first year is free. It has been a great way for me to stay connected with the school and the community as a whole."
Also addressing the newly minted attorneys were John Ward and Erika Jones, representing the Wake County Bar Association (WCBA).
"This is an exciting new beginning for y'all," Ward said. "You have a whole lot to celebrate. You have a whole lot to look forward to. Many of you probably have jobs lined up. Some of you probably have research projects waiting on your desk when you get out of here. But I want you to take a minute today and enjoy this moment because even though you have a whole lot to look forward to, and this great legal career ahead of you, you've done a whole lot to be where you are."
The ceremony offered graduates the opportunity to be sworn in as attorneys with the North Carolina State Bar at their alma mater with their family, friends, professors, staff, classmates and peers encouraging them and sharing the occasion. Each graduate took the oath of office as an attorney at law to support the Constitution of the United States.
"The annual swearing-in ceremony is one of our favorite events because it's the final destination on a long and challenging educational and professional journey," said Assistant Dean of External Relations Megan Sherron '10. "It's also the beginning of a new career in the legal profession, and it means a great deal to the administration, faculty and staff that every year so many of our alumni return home to share this special occasion with us."
A reception was held in the law school's Commons following the ceremony.
