Attention, Terriers: before you reach for your wallet (or Apple Pay), pull out your Terrier Card (BUID). Your Boston University ID gets you into your residence hall, dining hall, and FitRec. But that little card can do a whole lot more than help you get through the turnstile. From free museum memberships and $5 concert tickets to discounted food, fitness, entertainment, and even tech, being a BU student comes with some pretty sweet perks. And the best part? A lot of them are already included with your student status. So, if you're trying to experience Boston on a budget, here's your sign to start carrying your Terrier Card everywhere for some sweet BU student discounts.

Start With Some Free Culture

Boston is home to some of the best museums in the country, and your Terrier Card can get you through the doors for free.

Through BU's arts partnerships, undergraduate and graduate students with a valid BU Student ID can get free access to the Museum of Fine Arts, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and the Institute of Contemporary Art. You can also get free admission to the Harvard Art Museums.

So whether you're looking for a rainy-day activity, a study break, or simply an excuse to pretend you understand modern art, your Terrier Card has you covered.

And if you're looking for something closer to home, Boston University Art Galleries are always free and open to the public, with exhibitions featuring work from BU students and faculty as well as artists from around the world.

See a Show Without Spending Your Whole Paycheck

You don't have to be a music major to enjoy Boston's legendary arts scene. With a free Boston Symphony Orchestra student pass, BU students can purchase eligible BSO tickets for just $5. New shows become available through the student program throughout the season, so Symphony Hall suddenly becomes a much more realistic Friday-night plan. Theater more your thing? Full-time students can get $25 tickets to Huntington Theatre performances with the student discount code. And Boston Ballet offers student discounts and limited rush tickets for select performances.

Go See the Creatures of the Deep Sea…or Ascend to the Skyline

Sometimes the best student discount is the one you actually remember to use.

Heading to the New England Aquarium? BU students can save $5 on general admission. Want to take in the Boston skyline? Students can save $5 on general admission to View Boston. And if you're looking for something closer to campus, Agganis Arena has a $3 student concession item at the Terrier Town Concession stand when you show your Terrier Card. Pretzel, popcorn, or hot dog for three bucks? That's a win.

Free Fitness? Yes, Please.

Your Terrier Card isn't just for swiping into the dining hall. As a full-time BU student, you automatically have access to the Fitness and Recreation Center, meaning your student fees already cover your FitRec membership. All you need to access the facility is your Terrier Card. Beyond the gym, students can join club sports and intramural teams and get discounted rates on recreation classes.

Your Student Email Is Basically a Coupon Code

Now let's move online. BU students can get free access to The New York Times and other subscriptions using their BU email address. So you can stay up to date on what's happening in Boston and beyond without adding another subscription to your monthly budget. You can also get Grubhub+ for free through graduation, which includes benefits like zero delivery fees, lower service fees, and 5 percent credit back on eligible off-campus pickup orders. Because sometimes the dining hall is closed, you're exhausted, and ordering fries at midnight feels like the only option.

Want New Tech? Check Your Student Discount First.

Before buying a new laptop, headphones, or other tech, it pays to see what your student status can get you. Students can access education BU student discounts from brands including HP, Lenovo, Logitech, and Samsung. Depending on the brand and product, students can save anywhere from a few percent to up to 40 percent on select products. And if you're using your computer for literally everything from writing papers to making TikToks, those savings can add up.

Even a Game at Fenway Can Be Affordable

Living in Boston and never going to Fenway Park? We can't have that. Through the Red Sox Student9s program, BU students can score $9 tickets to select Red Sox games. Availability can be limited, so if you see a game you're interested in, don't wait too long to claim your spot. And if hockey is more your speed, Boston Bruins College Nights offer students discounted tickets to select games at TD Garden.

Your Terrier Card is more than your ticket into Warren Towers or a way to swipe into the dining hall. It's your passport to free museums, discounted concerts, cheaper entertainment, fitness perks, food savings, student subscriptions, and more. So before you spend $30 on something to do this weekend, take a second to ask yourself:

"Can my Terrier ID get me access to BU student discounts?"
