Estranged Landscape by Yuntao Xu
Art Installation at Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station
Glendale, CA - The Glendale Arts & Culture Commission is proud to open Estranged Landscape, an immersive installation designed specifically for the Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station in Glendale, a city where urban life meets natural landscape. Inspired by the surrounding mountains and canyons, the installation reimagines natural topography using lightweight, reflective fabric suspended by ceiling-mounted strings to form fluid, voluminous shapes. Fuzzy textiles and color-shifting lights enrich the surreal experience, inviting viewers to encounter beauty in an unexpected urban setting.
Yuntao Xu is a designer and licensed architect based in Los Angeles. He is the co-founder of Studio KOMA, a creative and architectural practice in LA. Since beginning his professional career in 2019, Yuntao has developed a strong command of diverse design platforms and cultivated a refined sensitivity to aesthetics. In addition to architectural practice, he actively engages in art-making, with a focus on digital fabrication, evocative forms, and material experimentation.
The exhibit opened on October 6, 2026 and will be on view through January 8, 2027. An artist reception will be hosted by the Adams Square Neighborhood Association on Sunday, November 8, 2026 at 2:30 PM. Adams Square Mini Park Gas Station is located at 1020 E. Palmer Ave., Glendale, CA 91205. This temporary art installation is generously sponsored by the Glendale Arts & Culture Commission through funding from the Urban Art Program, and support from Glendale Library, Arts & Culture, Glendale Community Services & Parks, and the Adams Hill Neighborhood Association.
