CommonSpirit - Memorial Hospital and Lifepoint Rehabilitation, an operating division of Lifepoint Health, broke ground last week on a new 40-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital. Located on Mountain View Road in Ooltewah, the hospital is expected to open to patients next spring.
"We recognize a profound and growing need for comprehensive rehabilitation services, especially in this part of Hamilton County," said Janelle Reilly, market president, CommonSpirit, Tennessee and Georgia. "By building a space wholly dedicated to the delivery of rehabilitation care, we can better help our patients return to their homes and families with greater strength and functional capability following illness or injury."
CommonSpirit - Memorial Rehabilitation Hospital will be built and operated via a joint venture partnership between CommonSpirit - Memorial Hospital and Lifepoint Rehabilitation. A team of expert rehabilitation professionals will provide care for adults who have experienced a loss of function or disability due to stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury, neurological disorders, orthopedic surgery, amputation and other conditions.
Specially designed to create a therapeutic environment for patients, this rehabilitation hospital will be equipped with leading-edge amenities and adaptive units, including 12 beds dedicated to the treatment of patients with acquired brain injuries, multidisciplinary therapy gymnasiums, a specialized "activities of daily living" suite, and outdoor courtyards designed to encourage patient movement and activity.
"We know our partners at CommonSpirit share Lifepoint's commitment to patient-centered specialty care," said Russ Bailey, president of Lifepoint Rehabilitation. "Through this partnership, we will significantly expand access to vitally needed rehabilitation services in the tri-state region. We look forward to bringing our evidence-driven therapy models to patients here in Hamilton County and commit to continued investment in high-quality specialty care alongside the team at CommonSpirit - Memorial Hospital."
Upon opening, Lifepoint Rehabilitation will manage day-to-day operations. The facility will join its growing network of nearly 50 rehabilitation hospitals nationwide.
