NEMA Welcomes Four New Members Spanning Cable Manufacturing, Energy Storage, and Power Connectivity

ARLINGTON, Va. - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) today announced that three manufacturing companies and one associate member have joined the organization, strengthening its representation across the electroindustry. The additions come as demand for electrical infrastructure, energy storage, and advanced manufacturing continues to accelerate nationwide.

"These new members join NEMA as the electroindustry continues to demonstrate its essential role in powering American prosperity," said NEMA President and CEO Debra Phillips. "Our newest members bring specialized expertise that strengthens NEMA's capacity to develop standards and advocate for policies that support the entire electroindustry - and the more than 2.3 million workers who drive it. Together, we're building the foundation for America's electrical future."

The new manufacturing members - LAPP Americas, Lunar Energy, and SmartPlug Systems - join NEMA at a moment of rapid growth and strategic importance for the electroindustry. NEMA also welcomes Universal Air Filter Company as an associate member. Together, the four companies bring expertise spanning industrial cable and connectivity solutions, residential energy storage systems, specialized power delivery, and filtration and EMI shielding products.

NEMA's new manufacturing members are:

  • LAPP Americas: A manufacturer of industrial power and control cables, signal and sensor cables, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) and servo motor cables, cordsets, and cable assembly solutions established in North America in 1976. Based in Florham Park, N.J., LAPP Americas serves manufacturers seeking industrial automation and advanced cable connectivity solutions.
  • Lunar Energy: Founded in 2020 and led by former Tesla executive Kunal Girotra, Lunar Energy designs and manufactures integrated battery energy storage system-solar inverter power solutions for residential use. With facilities in Mountain View, Calif.; Suwanee, Ga.; and Everett, Wash., the company is advancing residential energy storage and grid integration technologies.
  • SmartPlug Systems, LLC: A Seattle-based manufacturer specializing in power delivery systems, SmartPlug Systems has developed a patented power delivery device designed to replace current systems in RVs, boats, specialty vehicles, and industrial applications. Based in Lynnwood, Wash., the company represents innovation in specialized power connectivity.

"Joining NEMA represents an important milestone for LAPP Americas," said Tony Miller, Vice President of Sales, USA & Canada, LAPP Americas. "For nearly 50 years in North America, we've been committed to delivering high-quality cable solutions that enable industrial automation and advanced manufacturing. NEMA membership gives us the opportunity to contribute our expertise to standards development and work alongside industry leaders who share our commitment to innovation, quality, and supporting manufacturers building the factories and infrastructure of tomorrow."

"Lunar Energy is proud to join NEMA as the grid undergoes one of the most significant transformations in its history," said Chris Wright, SVP Software and Product of Lunar Energy. "As electrification accelerates and demand grows more volatile, distributed energy resources - home batteries, solar, and EV charging - are becoming essential tools for grid reliability, not just individual savings. Our Gridshare platform turns thousands of home energy systems into a coordinated, flexible resource that utilities and grid operators can call on when it matters most. We look forward to working alongside NEMA members to help set the standards that will make distributed energy a trusted pillar of the nation's electrical infrastructure."

NEMA's new associate member is:

  • Universal Air Filter Company: Operating as part of Filtration Group, the world's leading filtration company, Universal Air Filter Company addresses critical challenges in thermal management, dust contamination, and fire safety in crowded electronic enclosures. The company designs and manufactures custom air filters and EMI shielding products that protect commercial equipment and electronics enclosures.

"Universal Air Filter is thrilled to join NEMA as a partner in engineered solutions for challenging environments. As electronic enclosure designs become more complex and demanding, Universal Air Filter continues to deliver solutions for dust and water ingress to ensure efficient air cooling and support the ever-expanding reliability challenges. Universal Air Filter is proud to collaborate with NEMA to bring dust filtration, fire safety, and ingress protection expertise to the next generation of enclosures," said Parker Doelger, VP Commercial and Engineering, Universal Air Filter.
