Brief Description of Proposed Project:
The 35 Mile ORV Riding Park project will construct Juneau's first dedicated Off Road Vehicle Riding Park. Very few opportunities for summer motorized vehicle recreation exist in Juneau and this park will provide opportunities for all skill levels to recreate in a safe, fun, and sustainable park designed for motorized recreation. The entire project area encompasses approximately 565 acres of municipal land, and will offer a system of loop trails designed for diverse riding levels.
Substantial work has been completed in 2024 and 2025 using local funds and two previous RTP grants awarded in 2023 and 2025, including a gated driveway, parking lot for over 60 vehicles, site furnishings, construction of 2 km of trail, and hauling and stockpiling crushed rock for future trail construction. This grant will fund continued construction of the Lower Loop Trail and South Loop Trail, through the purchase of trail construction equipment and contracted construction services.
