Summer guided tours at St. Mihiel American Cemetery

The American Battle Monuments Commission will host a series of summer guided tours at St. Mihiel American Cemetery, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the site's history, architecture and ongoing care.

Developed by site staff, the program features thematic tours focused on the cemetery, the American service members commemorated there, as well as the design and maintenance of the site. The tours provide a deeper understanding of the role of the St. Mihiel Offensive and the legacy of those who served in World War I.

"Programs like these guided tours are essential to sharing the stories of the men and women honored at our sites," said Tom Cavaness, superintendent of St. Mihiel American Cemetery. "They allow visitors to better understand both the historical significance of the cemetery and the continued commitment of ABMC teams to preserve these sites of remembrance with the highest standards of care."

The tours will take place every Sunday in July and August 2026, beginning at 3:30 p.m. CET and lasting approximately one hour. All tours are free and open to the public without reservation, with the exception of the Aug. 30 tour, which will require advance booking through the Communauté de Communes Mad & Moselle.

Located in Thiaucourt, France, St. Mihiel American Cemetery commemorates American service members who fought and died during the St. Mihiel Offensive, the first major independent operation of American forces during World War I.

The American Battle Monuments Commission sites are a constant reminder of Gen. John J. Pershing's promise that, "time will not dim the glory of their deeds."
