Annual Water System Maintenance Begins November 2

Published on October 07, 2026

The City of Waco will temporarily change the disinfectant used in the water system from chloramine to free chlorine from November 2 through November 30 as part of annual routine maintenance. This process helps maintain water quality and reliable disinfectant levels throughout the water system.

Your water remains safe to drink and use normally. During the maintenance period, you may notice a temporary change in taste or smell, including a more noticeable chlorine smell.

Customers with home dialysis equipment, aquariums or other specialized water uses should review additional guidance before the temporary change begins.
