Lyft's launch in Puerto Rico isn't just an expansion-it's an embodiment of our core purpose to serve and connect communities. Our arrival is about more than transportation - we're here to forge lasting bonds through community partnerships, support for educational and cultural organizations, and collaboration with local organizations.
Today, we are proud to announce Lyft's Round Up & Donate program is now live in Puerto Rico, giving riders an easy way to support local causes with every ride. Riders can opt in to round up their fare to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to a Puerto Rican organization: Flamboyán Arts Fund, El Comedor de la Kennedy, or Hospital del Niño de Puerto Rico. Since launching Round Up & Donate in 2017, Lyft riders have donated over $38 million to causes across communities in the mainland United States and Canada. Now, riders in Puerto Rico can join this movement of everyday giving that makes a real difference.
To kick off this effort, we are proud to announce $67,500 in initial local investments, split between two key areas: $32,500 supporting non-partisan education, arts, and community organizations, including $7,500 each to the organizations participating in the Round Up & Donate program and $5,000 each to support University of Puerto Rico Foundation and Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico.
Contributing to the Community
Lyft is committed to being a force for good in every community we serve, which is why we are working with three high-impact nonprofit partners as part of our Round Up & Donate launch in Puerto Rico. When riders round up their fare through the app, they can choose to support any of these incredible local organizations serving the community:
Flamboyán Arts Fund champions Puerto Rico's thriving arts and culture scene.
El Comedor de la Kennedy leads critical hunger relief efforts on the ground.
Sociedad Pro Hospital del Niño de Puerto Rico delivers essential healthcare for children across the island.
"Serving and connecting communities means showing up with more than just rides-it means showing up with heart," said Lyft Chief Policy Officer Jerry Golden. "Puerto Rico's vibrant spirit and resilience reflect our own dedication to being a catalyst for positive change. Through empowering riders to give back with every trip and investing in the island's arts, healthcare, hunger relief efforts, and economic growth, we're not just entering a market-we're investing in Puerto Rico's bright tomorrow."
These partnerships ensure that both the Round Up & Donate program and our broader philanthropic efforts go directly to organizations that are deeply rooted in Puerto Rico.
Carlos Rodríguez Silvestre, Executive Director, Flamboyan Art Fund Puerto Rico: "We're excited to partner with Lyft to strengthen arts and culture in Puerto Rico through Lyft's new Round Up & Donate program. This collaboration represents an innovative way for our community to support the cultural heritage that makes Puerto Rico unique. Every ride becomes an opportunity to preserve, amplify and sustain the arts that are at the heart of Puerto Rican culture. We look forward to working with Lyft to expand access to resources for artists and arts organizations across the island."
Chef Iván Clemente, El Comedor de la Kennedy: "In the fight against hunger, every penny makes a difference, and now every Lyft ride does too. We are proud to partner with Lyft to turn their users' trips into acts of kindness that help us provide food to children, students, and seniors throughout Puerto Rico. It is truly inspiring to see how technology and compassion come together so that no one goes to bed hungry."
Ralphie Pagán, Board Chair, Sociedad Pro Hospital del Niño de Puerto Rico: "Every child deserves access to the care and support they need to thrive, and this partnership with Lyft helps us get closer to that goal. When Puerto Rican families round up and donate through Lyft, they're directly supporting long-term care, therapeutic services, and specialized education for children and youth with special needs across the island. We're grateful to Lyft for recognizing that empowering our children is fundamental to Puerto Rico's future."
Building Lasting Connections
Beyond direct community support, Lyft is investing $35,000 in memberships with key business organizations-Cámara de Comercio, Asociación de Industriales de Puerto Rico, and the Puerto Rico Hotel & Tourism Association. These partnerships ensure Lyft is deeply integrated into Puerto Rico's economic ecosystem.
