Critical Incidents Report for August 2025
In August, TMPA opened 11 case files for critical incidents Critical incidents are cases in which an officer's actions, conduct, or omissions resulted in the death or serious bodily injury of a person; or could have resulted in such harm as a result of the officer intentionally discharging his or her firearm. These critical incidents involved members from various agencies throughout the state including: Carrollton Police Department, Coke County Sheriff's Office, Grand Prairie Police Department, Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office, Houston Metro Police Department, Irving Police Department, Johnson County Sheriff's Office, Pflugerville Police Department, Richardson Police Department, Round Rock Police Department, Temple Police Department and include the following:
1. Members were involved in an in-custody death involving a subject who was under the influence and became unresponsive during an arrest. Attorney David Willis assisted members with statements.
2. Attorney Robert McCabe assisted member who was involved in an in-custody death.
3. Member was involved in an in-custody death. Attorney Paul Aman arrived on scene to assist member with statement.
4. Members were involved in an in-custody death that appeared to result from excited delirium. Attorney Lytza Rojas assisted members with statements.
5. Member responded to a disturbance with a gun call. When suspect reached for a gun, member fired duty weapon stopping the threat. Attorney Zach Horn with Bob Gorsly's office assisted member.
6. Six other critical incidents involving an on-duty shooting (Attorneys who assisted include Bob Gorsky's Office, Robert McCabe, Lance Wyatt, Chad Hyde)
