Representative Tran Delivers Nearly $1 Million for Public Safety in Artesia

Artesia, CA - U.S. Representative Derek Tran (CA-45) presented Artesia Mayor Rene Trevino with $925,000 in Community Project Funding he secured for a new Emergency Operations Center that will support Artesia's public safety and emergency response initiatives.

"Hard-working families deserve to see their tax dollars reinvested directly into our communities. I'm proud to deliver $925,000 in federal funding to support Artesia's law enforcement professionals and keep our streets safe," said Representative Tran. "This funding will strengthen our local emergency response efforts in Artesia with a new Emergency Operations Center. I'm grateful for Mayor Rene Trevino's steadfast leadership for every resident in Artesia. We'll keep working together to bring vital resources home to Southern California families."

The $925,000 in federal funding will support the construction equipping of an Emergency Operations Center in Artesia. The facility will be equipped with modern technology to support interagency coordination for emergency response and disaster relief operations and to ensure that Artesia's first responders have the resources to safely and efficiently address the community's public safety needs.

"This funding milestone represents an important investment in the safety and resilience of our community," said Mayor Rene Trevino. "The Emergency Operations Center will help ensure Artesia is better prepared to respond to emergencies and will continue serving residents when it matters most."

This funding is part of an over $14 million package Representative Tran is bringing back to LA and Orange Counties across 15 community projects that will make life safer, healthier, and easier for Southern California residents.

Through Community Project Funding (CPF), Members of Congress can request direct funding for specific local projects that benefit the communities they represent. The House Appropriations Committee considers up to 15 Community Project Funding requests from each member of Congress, and, once approved by the House and Senate and signed into law by the President, community projects are funded using federal tax revenue. Community Project Funding is subject to strict public transparency and accountability requirements, only available to nonprofit and government entities (for-profit grantees are not eligible), and must demonstrate evidence of compelling community support. In addition, each Member of Congress must certify in writing that there is no financial interest in the project for them and their immediate family. All projects will be audited by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to ensure sound stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
