Castle Hills Corridor Trail project
Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) will hold two public meetings to share plans on the Castle Hills Corridor Trail project with residents.
The first meeting will be Saturday, Aug. 29, 10-11:30 a.m., at Lewisville Jamatkhana, 2560 FM 544. The second meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 1, 6-7:30 p.m., at Lake Avalon Park, 806 Lady of the Lake Boulevard.
The purpose of a trail corridor through Castle Hills is to connect to the robust trails in adjacent communities such as Carrollton, Plano, and The Colony, as well as to the majority of Lewisville including the Green Centerpiece.
The City selected McAdams to provide surveying and landscape architecture services to prepare a schematic design for the trial. The design will be based on guidelines as set forth in PARD's Healthy Infrastructure Plan, 2024 bond election proposed projects document, and PARD trail design standards.
The site of the proposed improvements is Phase I of the Castle Hills Trail Development for the southernmost portion of the corridor running from Windhaven Parkway east to the utility easement, then north along the easement to the sports fields. The project will include a 12-foot-wide trail, wayfinding signage, trailhead(s), park furniture, and shade where possible.
A key component of achieving the City's vision for this trail is to engage with residents and include them in the decision-making process. PARD will work with residents to help reduce project risk and build long-term trust. McAdams and the City will ensure the needs of the people who are affected by this project are heard and integrated into our goals.
