Finland's Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Ville Tavio will visit Uruguay with a business delegation on 5-9 November.

This Team Finland trade mission, organised together with Business Finland, will strengthen trade relations and promote cooperation between Finland and Uruguay.

During his visit, Minister Ville Tavio will meet Uruguay's Minister of Foreign Affairs Mario Lubetkin, Minister of the Environment Edgardo Ortuño, Minister of Industry, Energy, and Mining Fernanda Cardona, Minister of Economy and Finance Gabriel Oddone and Deputy Minister of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries Matías Carámbula. The visit's agenda also includes a business programme, an event to celebrate the 90th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Uruguay and Finland, and a visit to UPM's pulp mill.

"Uruguay is a unique partner for Finland. Finland's investments in the forest industry make up a significant part of our foreign investments. Uruguay is a member of the Mercosur region, with which the EU has concluded negotiations on a free trade agreement. The EU-Mercosur agreement, once concluded, would mark a new phase in our trade relations also with Uruguay," Minister Tavio says.
