UPDATES

  • While Florida and local partners lead Helene and Milton recovery, FEMA has provided more than $11 billion in grants to survivors, reimbursements to communities, and flood insurance payments.
  • More than $1.8 billion in recovery funds have been obligated to the state to reimburse Florida communities for debris removal, critical infrastructure repairs and emergency efforts.
    • $590 million has been obligated for debris removal. These funds helped with the removal of more than 31.67 million cubic yards of disaster related debris.
  • In addition to recovery projects for Helene and Milton, FEMA announced $11.4 million to the state of Florida for the replacement of the Naples Pier, significantly damaged by Hurricane Ian.
  • FEMA has provided more than $1.7 billion to help Floridians with uninsured losses from Helene and Milton.
  • FEMA, in collaboration with the State of Florida, has provided temporary housing units to a total of 649 families. To date, more than 240 of those families have already moved into more permanent housing solutions.
  • For some families, purchasing their FEMA housing unit is the solution. To date, 15 families have closed on the purchase of their unit.
    • An important step in recovery is creating and implementing a permanent housing plan. FEMA staff visit temporary housing occupants monthly to support the creation of a viable plan. All occupants are also encouraged to work with Disaster Case Management to help identify permanent housing solutions.
    • Florida's Direct Housing Program ends April 11, 2026.
  • FEMA has provided Florida disaster survivors with:
    • More than $602 million in eligible home repairs for 66,452 families.
    • More than $164 million to 29,739 families for rental assistance.
  • $7.5 billion has been paid in claims to more than 76,000 families in the National Flood Insurance Program.
    • $6.3 billion for 54,624 Helene claims.
    • $1.2 billion for 21,608 Milton claims.
