COLUMBUS-State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) is pleased to announce that applications for the 2026 AARP Community Challenge grant program are now open.
Grants will support shovel-ready community projects nationwide that directly improve livability for people of all ages.
Key details are as follows:
Application deadline: March 4, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. ET
Submission site: AARP.org/CommunityChallenge
Project Completion Deadline: December 15, 2026

Eligibility: 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), 501(c)(6) nonprofit organizations, government entities, and other organizations on a case-by-case basis
"This program provides a meaningful opportunity to improve opportunities for all, including our seniors," said Richardson. "These funds support projects that help to make our communities better places to work, live, and raise a family. I encourage local nonprofit organizations and government entities to apply."
Ohio communities have used these grants in the past to improve crosswalks and sidewalks, add pickleball courts, create community gardens and farmers market pavilions, support home safety upgrades for older adults and veterans, and more.
