The City of Toledo's new Solid Waste Services Agreement with Republic Services (Allied Waste Services of North America, LLC) is in effect as of today, September 1, 2026. The five-year agreement continues residential trash, recycling, and bulk waste collection services for Toledo residents and establishes stronger performance standards to hold the company accountable for the level of service residents expect and deserve.
There is no change to collection schedules, cart service, recycling guidelines, or bulk waste pickup. Residents should continue to set out trash, recycling, and up to 5 compliant bulk items on their regular collection day, following the same guidelines they have always used.
New Accountability Measures
The new agreement establishes clear, measurable service standards - with financial credits owed back when Republic Services falls short. Highlights include:
Reporting a Service Issue
Residents who experience a missed pickup, damaged cart, or other service issue should contact Republic Services directly:
Reporting issues directly to Republic Services ensures they're logged and tracked against the new service standards, and helps the City monitor the company's performance.
Residents are also encouraged to create a free account through Republic Services' online portal, where they can subscribe to receive alerts about service delivery impacts - including holiday schedule changes, weather delays, and other advisories.
