This follows Senator Warnock's previous announcements securing $531, $192, and $300 million in federal funds for entities impacted by Hurricane Helene
In September 2025, one-year after Hurricane Helene, Senator Warnock released a report finding the Trump Administration was shortchanging Georgians by nearly half a billion dollars in disaster relief aid
To date, Senator Warnock has helped recover over a billion dollars in federal funds owed to the state, though it is estimated that the administration is still withholding roughly $311 million in related outstanding payments
Senator Warnock: "With this latest announcement, I am proud to have secured over one billion dollars in total federal hurricane assistance funds owed to the Peach State"
Washington, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) announced he secured an additional $75 million in federal funding for outstanding payments owed to Georgia counties and entities following Hurricane Helene.
To date, Senator Warnock has helped recover over one billion dollars in outstanding federal funds owed to the state. The Trump Administration still owes over $300 million dollars in similar overdue funds to Georgia.
"With this latest announcement, I am proud to have secured over one billion dollars in total federal hurricane assistance funds owed to the Peach State," said Senator Warnock."While this funding is welcome relief, this administration cannot continue to slow-walk federal relief that should have been released months ago. I will keep pushing this administration until every cent of the remaining $311 million is at work rebuilding our state."
In September 2025, Senator Warnock published a report finding that nearly $500 million in promised federal funding for Hurricane Helene recovery efforts remained unpaid. In December, Senator Warnock released a statement after new evidence emerged showing that the Trump Administration owed $600 million in Hurricane Helene recovery aid to Georgians. After the Senator revealed the delayed funding, the Trump Administration released $314 million in federal funding for Georgia communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. The funding, part of a disaster recovery bill championed by Senator Warnock in 2024, is meant to reimburse local communities for funds spent on recovery. Despite bipartisan Congressional support for the immediate delivery of disaster recovery funds, the distribution of aid has been stifled by bureaucratic red tape and chaos in the Trump Administration.
