Under a partnership between NWTC and UW-Platteville, students will now have three new ways to earn a bachelor's in engineering while staying in Northeast Wisconsin.
"This partnership enables students to stay in the region, complete their associate degree, and continue toward a high-demand engineering career - all while accessing world-class instruction from UW-Platteville," said Dr. Kathryn Rogalski, NWTC Academic Affairs and Workforce Development Division vice president.
Through a series of newly signed agreements, qualified NWTC students will now have guaranteed transfer pathways into UW-Platteville's Bachelor of Science programs in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and industrial and systems engineering. Students can be enrolled at NWTC and UW-Platteville at the same time. All UW-Platteville courses can be taken online or hybrid; when hybrid, students will attend a lab site to complete the work that cannot be done remotely.
"These agreements create robust, clear, and affordable pathways for technical college students who want to earn four-year engineering degrees without starting over," said Dr. Philip Parker, dean of the College of Engineering, Mathematics and Science at UW-Platteville. "This collaboration is a direct investment in Wisconsin's future workforce."
NWTC and Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) have expanded their longstanding transfer partnership. In August, the institutions finalized three articulation agreements that expand access for graduates of NWTC's engineering and design associate degree programs to pursue Bachelor of Science programs at MSOE in computer science, electrical engineering, and software engineering.
"The partnership reflects the critical role two-year colleges play in the broader STEM talent pipeline," said Rogalski. "This model saves students time, money, and momentum, while connecting technical foundations to advanced, in-demand degrees."
