On the margins of the European Political Community Summit in Copenhagen, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a meeting with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Council António Costa, and Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen.
Special attention was given to supporting Ukraine on its path to EU membership. Ukraine expects the simultaneous opening of the first cluster with Moldova, which is intended to advance reforms in key areas such as the rule of law and the fight against corruption.
The discussion also addressed the EU initiative to establish a Drone Wall. Ukraine is ready to join the initiative and share its experience in countering Russian drones.
The parties also discussed the use of frozen Russian assets and new financial instruments to support Ukraine.
In addition, the conversation focused on strengthening sanctions policy against Russia. Ukraine expects the adoption of the 19th EU sanctions package, which will include new restrictions targeting the financial sector, the military-industrial complex, the shadow fleet, propagandists, companies attempting to circumvent sanctions, as well as individuals responsible for crimes against Ukrainian children.
