The Federation of Employers and Industrialists (OEB) expresses deep concern about the indefinite abstention from work of Carriers A' at the Port of Limassol, which came into force today, November 3, 2025.
A possible continuation of abstinence from work will cause a knock-on effect on the smooth functioning of the market, affecting:
OEB points out that any delay in the flow of goods to and from the Port of Limassol, which is the country's main import and export gateway, will have disproportionate economic consequences and cause serious disruption to commercial and productive activity.
Particularly in the current period, ahead of the Christmas holidays - the most commercially active time of the year - the continuation of the strike could lead to product shortages, rising prices and significant inconvenience for businesses and consumers.
Carriers A have raised issues that need to be addressed, but the resolution of any problems must be done through institutional and consensual dialogue, without disturbing economic normality.
Based on the above, OEB calls on Carrier A to immediately cancel the strike measures and return to their work, allowing the competent Ministries, which already demonstrate the necessary flexibility and willingness to cooperate, to complete the procedures for solving the problems within the framework of the Laws.
