FEMA Announces Additional $166 Million for Tennessee Recovery

ATLANTA -FEMA approved more than $166 million in funding to support 18 recovery projects in Tennessee communities affected by Tropical Storm Helene and other disasters.

Notable recovery projects FEMA funded include:

  • $152 million to the Tennessee Department of Military/Emergency Management Agency fund debris removal after Helene.
  • $7.5 million to Carter County for debris removal operations after Helene.
  • $1.8 million to Memphis Light Gas and Water for the removal and replacement of utility equipment affected by Tropical Storm Helene.
  • $667,000 to Cocke County Government for management costs related to Helene.
  • $464,000 to Carter County Schools for management costs related to Helene.
  • $1 million to the state of Tennessee to fund its disaster crisis counseling program following the January 2026 severe winter storm.

FEMA is reimbursing these recovery costs at no less than a 75% federal cost share through its Public Assistance program, which provides funds for state and local governments' response and recovery work. The grant for Crisis counseling is funded at 100% federal share.
