GFT Selected to Support AEP Transmission Delivery Partner Program

Supporting One of the Nation's Largest Transmission Systems

GFT has been selected as part of the Jacobs-led Delivery Partner team supporting American Electric Power's (AEP) Transmission Delivery Partner Program, a long-term initiative focused on strengthening and modernizing the largest electric transmission system in the U.S. AEP owns approximately 40,000 transmission line-miles and operates the nation's largest 765-kV transmission network.

Jacobs will serve as the prime Delivery Partner in the East region, supported by GFT, Commonwealth Associates, and ORC Utility & Infrastructure Land Services. Together, the team will provide engineering, project management, program controls, environmental, right-of-way, telecommunications, and delivery support services to AEP Transmission projects.

Meeting Growing Energy Demands

As electricity demand continues to rise, utilities across the country are investing in transmission infrastructure to improve grid performance, connect new generation resources, and support economic growth. The Delivery Partner model provides integrated program management, engineering, and project delivery support to help AEP scale resources and maintain consistent execution across a multi-billion-dollar transmission portfolio.

"The strength of our nation's energy future depends on the transmission investments we make today," said Mike Orth, CEO of GFT. "AEP is undertaking work of extraordinary scale, building a more resilient grid that can power economic growth and meet rapidly rising demand. GFT is proud to bring our longstanding work with AEP and deep infrastructure expertise to the Jacobs-led team, helping turn that ambitious vision into lasting impact for millions of people and communities."

Experience That Supports Long-Term Program Success

GFT brings decades of utility infrastructure experience to the program, including transmission engineering, owner's engineer services, telecommunications, environmental services, geotechnical engineering, and program delivery support. The firm has partnered with AEP on projects including the Arlington-Blanchard-Carey Transmission Lines project, Kincaid Area Improvements, and the PCS Antenna Program.

"This selection reflects the depth of technical expertise and program delivery experience our team brings to the utility industry," said Jim Juras, President of the firm's Power Division. "Our history of supporting AEP, combined with our experience delivering complex transmission infrastructure programs nationwide, positions us to help advance the goals of this initiative. We're excited to be part of a team focused on delivering reliable, high-quality solutions for one of the nation's most important transmission systems."
