55-Hour Ramp Closures On Northbound Interstate 5 As Work Progresses On I-5 Anchor Pavement Project

55-Hour Full Closures Of Eight Mile Road Off-Ramp (Oct. 17-20) And Hammer Lane On-Ramp (Oct. 24-27, 2025) On Northbound Interstate 5 In Stockton

San Joaquin County- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will perform 55-hour full closures of the Hammer Lane on-ramp and the Eight Mile Road off-ramp on northbound Interstate 5 (I-5) as progress continues on the I-5 Anchor Pavement and Rehabilitation Project.

Closure of the Eight Mile Road off-ramp to northbound I-5 is scheduled to occur beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, through 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025.

Closure of the Hammer Lane on-ramp to northbound I-5 is scheduled to occur beginning at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, through 5:00 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025.

The closure of the #3 (right) lane on northbound I-5 is also required during both 55-hour weekend closures to help expedite work and for the safety of workers and motorists.

Detour Information During 55-Hour On-Ramp Closures:

  • Northbound I-5 Hammer Lane on-ramp - motorists are advised to use the Benjamin Holt Drive on-ramp to northbound I-5 during this closure.
  • Northbound I-5 Eight Mile Road off-ramp - motorists are advised to use the SR-12/Flag City off-ramp, then take the southbound SR-12/Flag City on-ramp to southbound I-5, and exit at the Eight Mile Road off-ramp during this closure.

Closures of these ramps are required for excavation and removal of the existing roadway surface, followed by constuction of new roadway surface and lane delineation (striping.)

The above listed ramp closures are required as part of the I-5 Anchor Pavement Project that will improve 34 miles of existing pavement and shoulders from Hammer Lane in Stockton to the San Joaquin/ Sacramento County line. The project will also overlay on- and off-ramps with asphalt concrete at Eight Mile Road, SR-12, Turner Road, Peltier Road, and Thornton Road/Walnut Grove Road.
