Babinkostova delivers keynote at cybersecurity conference

Professor Liljana Babinkostova from the Department of Mathematics delivered a keynote address at the 23rd Annual Boise Information Systems Security Conference, held on March 10 at Boise State University. The Boise Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association, which hosts the conference, is the primary professional organization for cybersecurity practitioners in Idaho's Treasure Valley.

Babinkostova's presentation centered around the urgent need for "quantum-resistant" security and the significant technical challenges involved in transitioning existing digital infrastructure to new standards.

She also spoke on the panel "Preparing for a Post-Quantum World: What Organizations Are Really Doing in 2026" alongside local chief information security officers and policy experts. The panel discussion focused on practical lessons learned, from cryptographic inventory challenges and unexpected system dependencies to testing hurdles and the gaps between organizational expectations and technical realities.
