Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach Community Development Department is hosting two free in-person educational workshops focusing on Disabled Access and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance for Long Beach business owners, property owners and contractors. The workshops will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. at the Billie Jean King Library (200 W. Broadway) and Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. at the Recreation Park Social Hall (4900 E. 7th St.).
Led by the Community Development's Building and Safety Bureau and facilitated by Collaborative Access Studio, both workshops will offer practical guidance on accessibility laws, California Building Code requirements and how to avoid common violations. Topics will include essential accessibility elements, potential liabilities for non-compliance, common ADA lawsuit violations and rules for accessible dining areas and circulation paths. Participants will learn how to safeguard their businesses and properties from costly ADA-related lawsuits and reduce legal risks. Understanding these requirements helps businesses and property owners avoid costly violations, expand their customer base and create safe, welcoming and accessible spaces for all.
This workshop is part of the City's ongoing efforts to support the local business community and improve accessibility. Those interested in attending are encouraged to RSVP at lbcd.info/ada-bizworkshop.
More information about the Disabled Access and ADA Compliance Workshop is available on the Community Development Department's website.
