Atlantic City Electric Hosts Energy Assistance Event to Help Customers Apply for LIHEAP and Other Support Programs

Atlantic City Electric is hosting an energy assistance event on Wednesday, September 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Atlantic Cape Community College, 1535 Bacharach Boulevard. in Atlantic City. Customers can stop by for one-on-one help exploring programs and resources that may help them manage their energy bills.

Atlantic City Electric representatives and community partners will be available to answer questions and help customers learn about the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), the Universal Service Fund (USF), payment options, energy efficiency programs, and other available resources. Energy efficiency partners will also provide information and kits designed to help customers better manage their energy use and costs.

"We know many families are feeling the impact of higher costs, and we want to make it easier for customers to learn what support may be available," said Andrew Hendry, region president for Atlantic City Electric. "This event gives customers an opportunity to sit down with an expert, ask questions and get help taking the next step."

The new LIHEAP season begins October 1. LIHEAP helps income-eligible households pay their home energy bills with one grant per program year, while USF helps make monthly energy costs more affordable for eligible customers through a monthly bill credit. Customers do not need to be behind on their bills to explore assistance options or determine whether they may qualify.

Customers who cannot attend can apply for LIHEAP and USF through Atlantic City Electric's Assistance Finder tool, which provides personalized recommendations about bill assistance and energy efficiency programs that may fit their needs. Customers may also sign up through the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) by visiting energyassistance.nj.gov or calling 1-800-510-3102. Please be sure to select Atlantic City Electric as their agency when enrolling through the DCA website.

Through outreach efforts that have included more than 230 community events across South Jersey in the past year, Atlantic City Electric and its partners have helped connect customers with available assistance programs and other support resources.
