Audry's Party Planning

Banners have become a popular way to send a message, celebrate a special occasion, or brighten up a space. Audrey Donovan '28 is using her artistic skills to ride the trend.

Donovan, a creative arts major/marketing minor, recently launched Audrey's Party Painting (@audreyspartypainting on Insta) at the urging of her sister Anna Donovan '24. Banners are all over social media; people like to order them for party and holiday décor, and for a prime photo spot so guests can remember the event. Birthday? Bachelorette trip? Baby shower? Donovan has it covered.

"My whole family has always been really supportive of my artwork, and my sister told me 'You have to do this!"

Donovan has always been interested in making art; oil painting and drawing with graphite pencils are her favorite media, but she does a little bit of everything. While a student at Catholic High School in Troy, N.Y., she was a standout pupil of art teacher Terry Murphy, and was so inspired she chose creative arts as her Siena major.

"The thought of starting a potential business seems stressful and kind of intimidating, but having people in my corner who love and support me has helped a lot," she said. "I am so thankful for my family and friends, especially Nyasia [Wade], who have given me this opportunity to grow my business into the Siena community."

She and her art supplies are based at her Mechanicville, N.Y. home. Delivery within 10 miles of home, or to the Siena campus, is free.

"Audrey did such an amazing job creating my sign. She was so creative and thoughtful throughout the whole process, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out," said Milana D'Alessandro '27. "She really brought my vision to life, and I would definitely recommend her work!"
