Landsman Statement on Unilateral Recognition of a Palestinian State

Cincinnati, OH - Today, Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH-01) released the following statement ahead of the United Nations Summit on the Israel-Palestine conflict, where leaders will discuss unilaterally recognizing a Palestinian state:

I believe in real solutions, and the only path forward to a two-state solution, which I strongly believe in, is through direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, which can't happen until the war is over and the hostages have been returned home.

These unilateral actions undermine hopes for two states. Actual statehood comes with defined political borders, legitimate governing authorities, and security agreements.

Everyone should be working to end this war, get the aid that's in Gaza distributed to everyone that needs it, get the hostages home, and help rebuild Gaza with a new and legitimate governing authority.

That's the pathway to a durable peace.
