Minnesota State Moorhead hosts Become a Teacher Day on Nov. 4

High school junior and senior students can explore the profession of teaching at Minnesota State Moorhead's Become a Teacher Day on Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the university's Lommen Hall.

Students will sit in on a college course, hear from current education students and faculty, tour campus, and take part in an activity with members of Moorhead's teacher education student organizations.

A healthy community depends on educated citizens who think critically, evaluate information, and learn from one another. Without teachers, there wouldn't be doctors, lawyers or auto mechanics. Moorhead's Nibbe School of Teaching & Learning aims to elevate the teaching profession and encourage more young people to enter the education field.

"Teaching is a wonderful career," said Julia Poplin, professor in the Nibbe School of Teaching & Learning. "We want high school students to be inspired by the possibilities and informed about all the options available to them as future educators."

This event is free for students to attend and includes lunch. Moorhead is unable to provide transportation funds for the event.
