Prime Minister Andrey Gurov had a meeting with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine, Ruslan Stefanchuk. Bulgaria's Prime Minister stressed the need to keep international attention focused on Ukraine, despite developments in the Middle East. It was stressed that any peaceful solution should ensure the sovereignty and long-term security of Ukraine. The discussion noted the importance of the provision of reliable security guarantees that are backed by steady investments in the country's defense capabilities.
The meeting touched on the attendance of Bulgaria's Prime Minister of the Coalition of the Willing meeting on 24 February where President Volodymyr Zelenskyy participated and where the Prime Minister reiterated continued support for Ukraine. Andrey Gurov reassured Ruslan Stefanchuk that Bulgaria continues to be committed to the provision of efficacious security guarantees in close coordination with EU and NATO partners.
The two parties declared their intention to promote political dialog and to expand cooperation in the security and defense field, with a particular emphasis on stability in the Black Sea region and on consolidation of rules-based international order.
