Kevin Anderson, senior lecturer in the Department of Communication, will present the pilot episode of "The Future of Coffee," the travel and food series he has directed, at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, in ILC, Room S350. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A with the filmmakers and representatives from the coffee industry.

Produced by a group of UMass students from numerous disciplines, "The Future of Coffee" investigates coffee as a locus of intersecting current concerns regarding labor, global trade and environmentalism. The series offers a close look at the sustainability and future of the industry as well as a celebration of this ubiquitous beverage.

Scheduled to join Anderson in the discussion following the screening are Barth Anderson of Barrington Coffee Roasting Company, Mukunda Feldman of Amherst Coffee and Rianna Jakson, the film's editor and UMass class of 2024. Filmmaker, photographer and teacher David Bendiksen, an affiliated faculty member at Emerson College, will emcee the discussion.
