DNC Statement on Kwanzaa Arrow

To mark the beginning of Kwanzaa, DNC Chair Ken Martin and Interfaith Council Chairs Reem Subei and Johnnie Roebuck released the following statement:

"As families and friends gather around to light the black, red, and green candles of the Kinara, one word comes to mind - Umoja. Unity is the first principle that guides us throughout this week-long celebration and is the foundation of this holiday. Umoja reminds us that together we are stronger and that we can not complete our goals alone.

"Throughout this week, we honor the rich African and African American heritage and culture that has propelled this nation forward by commemorating the memories and traditions that bring us together.

"To all who celebrate, we wish you a happy Kwanzaa and a week filled with bliss."
