The discussion focused on matters pertaining to the improvement of procedures for conducting underwater inspections of vessels. Particular attention was paid to territorial and climatic characteristics of Russia's seaports and the intensity of vessel traffic entering them.
Furthermore, the meeting participants reviewed matters concerning the coordination of activities among government authorities and organisations in formulating and implementing a unified state policy in the field of diving.
Following the discussion, it was proposed to establish an Interdepartmental Commission for Diving under the Maritime Board. The commission's mandate will include developing proposals of a regulatory, organisational, economic, scientific, and technical nature aimed at advancing and refining diving practices. This encompasses medical support and social protection for divers and medical personnel involved in providing medical care to divers.
The commission will also be tasked with formulating proposals for a unified scientific and technical policy regarding diving when it comes to organising scientific research, developing diving and hyperbaric equipment and technologies, training specialists, enhancing educational and industrial infrastructure, and fostering international cooperation in this area.
