As part of the Southern Tier United Way Day of Caring on September 11, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield employees rolled up their sleeves and volunteered at the Broome County Humane Society, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to strengthening the health and well-being of the communities we serve.
Volunteerism is one of the many ways we support healthier, stronger communities. By giving their time and talents, employees helped the Humane Society continue its important work caring for animals in need while supporting the staff and resources that make that mission possible.
Throughout the day, volunteers assisted with a variety of tasks, including preparing food, washing dishes, doing laundry, gardening, cleaning, and walking dogs. These efforts helped create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for animals awaiting their forever homes while easing the workload of the organization's dedicated team.
The Day of Caring is a reminder that improving community health extends beyond traditional health care. Whether supporting local nonprofits, addressing community needs, or lending a helping hand where it's needed most, employee volunteers play an important role in making a positive impact across our region.
