Atmos Energy Donates $750,000 to Community Food Banks During Hunger Action Month

DALLAS - Sept. 16, 2025 - Food insecurity affects every community in the Unites States, and last year 50 million Americans turned to food banks for vital assistance - more than at any point over the last decade. In support of Hunger Action Month, Atmos Energy has donated $750,000 to food banks across the eight states it serves. 'Fueling hope and growth for our neighbors' is an essential pillar of the company's Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities initiative, and these donations will help thousands of our most vulnerable neighbors with additional resources to obtain the nutritious meals their families need.

"Food banks play a critical role in the communities we serve by offering access to fresh food as well as essential services such as nutrition education, advocacy, and assistance programs that address the root causes of hunger," said Liz Beauchamp, vice president of governmental and public affairs. "In the midst of Hunger Action Month, we are proud to make these donations and equip our nonprofit partners with additional resources to provide the most vulnerable families with immediate basic needs in the communities we serve."

Hunger Action Month, first established by Feeding America in 2007, is a nationwide campaign held every September to raise awareness and improve the lives of those challenged by hunger and food insecurity. It takes significant resources to collect, store, and distribute food to those in need, so Atmos Energy has donated these funds to further the missions of food banks that partner with local charities, schools, churches, and shelters to support individuals and families struggling to afford basic necessities.

"Alongside the vital support that food banks provide in the communities we serve, we believe that access to well-being support and nutritious food are critical to a healthy future for our kids," added Beauchamp. "That is why we also partner with local nonprofits that supply weekend breakfast during the summer for school-aged children, daily snacks for young students in elementary schools, and weekly summer lunches for students of all ages. Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities encapsulates the many ways that we invest every day in the communities we call home."
