Active Transportation Committee seeking new members

The City of Eugene is seeking community members with a passion for walking, biking, rolling and riding the bus to apply for the Active Transportation Committee, a volunteer advisory group that helps shape how people get around in Eugene.

The application is open until Nov. 3 for new members to join the ATC, which plays a key role in guiding city staff on projects and programs that support walking, biking, rolling and public transit. The committee advises the Transportation Planning Team and helps improve plans for making Eugene safer and more accessible for all modes of travel.

The City is looking for community members with an interest in transportation safety, equity and innovation. The committee meets monthly and offers a collaborative space for residents to share ideas, review plans, and advocate for improvements that make active transportation easier and more enjoyable.

"This is a great opportunity for people who want to make a real impact on how we move through our city," said Willow Hamilton, staff liaison for the ATC from the City's Transportation Planning team. "Whether you're a daily bike commuter, a bus rider or someone who wants to see safer sidewalks and crossings, your voice matters."

The ATC meets on the second Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with meetings open to the public both in-person and online. Members serve two-year terms and are selected to represent a wide range of backgrounds, neighborhoods and perspectives. Participation in community committees supports the priority of Communication and Outreach in the City's strategic plan.

Interested residents can learn more and apply by visiting the City of Eugene's Active Transportation Committee webpage at eugene-or.gov/490/Active-Transportation-Committee.
