WASHINGTON-U.S. Senators John Boozman (R-AR) and Tom Cotton (R-AR) applauded President Trump's announcement of his nomination of David Clay Fowlkes to serve as a judge on the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas.

"Clay Fowlkes is an experienced prosecutor and an excellent choice to serve as a judge in the Western District of Arkansas. He has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to upholding the law, promoting public safety and holding criminals accountable. I look forward to working with Sen. Cotton and our colleagues to advance his nomination through the Senate so he can continue to serve our state in this new role," Boozman said.

"David Clay Fowlkes has served the people of Arkansas as a prosecutor helping keep violent criminals and drugs out of our communities. I expect that he will do the same as judge for the Western District of Arkansas. I support his nomination and I look forward to his confirmation in the Senate," Cotton said.

Fowlkes is a Harrison native currently serving as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas. He graduated from Arkansas State University with a bachelor's in agriculture business and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas School of Law in Fayetteville. He was as a deputy prosecutor in Benton County before joining the U.S. Attorney's Office in Fort Smith, where he has supervised the criminal, civil and administrative divisions and served for two years as the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force lead task force attorney.

The Western District of Arkansas includes 34 counties stretching from Texarkana and El Dorado to Fayetteville and Fort Smith.
