Evans Puts TSA Officers And Critical Agencies First, Votes to Show Support and Pay Hardworking Americans in DHS

WASHINGTON -- Today, Congressman Gabe Evans voted for a third time to fully fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and supported a resolution backing the hardworking Americans keeping our homeland safe.

The two pieces of legislation voted on today: H.Res 1128: Resolution calling to fund DHSand H.R. 8029: Pay our Homeland Defenders Act, both reaffirm Republicans' commitment to delivering vital funds to TSA agents and critical agencies throughout DHS.

"In just six months, Democrats have shut down our government, not once, but twice - claiming that closing the Department of Homeland Security makes our country safer. As a cop and a soldier for a combined 22 years - their claims couldn't be further from the truth. This shutdown is yet another attempt by the Left to push their radical defund-the-police agenda, and their repeated actions have made it perfectly clear: they don't care who gets hurt in the process. I'm proud to vote to fund DHS, pay our hardworking Americans, and to keep our country safe." - Congressman Gabe Evans

Tensions continued to rise as the shutdown enters day 41, now the longest partial government shutdown in American history. And the consequences are only getting worse:

During a hearing on the DHS shutdown in Homeland Security yesterday, TSA Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeil testified that wait times at airports are currently the longest in agency history, as call-out rates have surged 40-50%, and more than 480 TSA employees have quit their position completely.

Background:

Republicans have now voted three times to fund DHS, including previous passage of H.R. 7147and H.R. 7744.
