NTCA Urges FCC to Address Local Broadband Permitting Barriers

(August 24) In comments filed with the FCC, NTCA supported Lumos Fiber of Ohio's petition asking the commission to set aside permitting fees and other requirements imposed by Stark and Mahoning counties in Ohio that were not applied equally to other broadband providers. NTCA said the fees and requirements go beyond what is reasonable for managing public rights-of-way, inhibit broadband deployment and highlight the need to limit similar state and local permitting burdens.
