Atlanta - TxDOT plans to open new Interstate 30 (I-30) frontage roads west of Farm to Market road (FM) 989/Kings Highway later this week. The new frontage roads extend the current frontage roads on both sides of I-30 from FM 989 to just east of FM 3419.
Westbound motorists traveling the new frontage roads west of FM 989/Kings Highway can enter Interstate 30 westbound lanes just east of FM 3419. Westbound frontage road traffic can also access a new turnaround bridge east of FM 3419 which will allow them access to the eastbound frontage roads headed back into Texarkana. The new frontage roads do not provide access to FM 3419. In addition, the FM 2148 underpass will be reopened.
TxDOT reminds motorists that Hampton Road, the portion of westbound frontage road between Kings Highway and FM 2148, which previously accommodated two-way traffic, will now be open to one-way westbound traffic only. "This project reconstructed some existing frontage roads and fills in gaps in the frontage road system to accommodate conversion from two-way to one-way operations between FM 989 and FM 3419," said Texarkana Area Engineer Dana C. Moore.
A future project is planned to reconstruct and raise the FM 3419 bridge which will include connections to the frontage roads.
Estimated completion dates are subject to change due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances. Travelers can check traffic updates by visiting DriveTexas .
