Jefferson leaders joined City officials and community partners today to announce a new strategic partnership aimed at addressing growing operational complexity and enhancing public safety in Center City Philadelphia. The Thomas Jefferson University Police Department (TJUPD), the Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) and the SEPTA Transit Police Department have formalized this collaboration to create a unified framework that strengthens coordination, streamlines information sharing and improves emergency response capabilities across Jefferson's Center City campuses, Jefferson Station, the Market East corridor and surrounding communities.

The Joint Public Safety Hub reflects a cross-sector, multi-agency approach to keeping Philadelphians and visitors safe. This effort comes at a critical moment as Philadelphia prepares for upcoming global events, reinforcing the importance of seamless coordination across public safety partners.

"Ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients, students, colleagues and neighbors requires strong partnerships and ongoing investment," said Joseph G. Cacchione, MD, CEO of Jefferson. "The Joint Public Safety Hub reflects Jefferson's commitment to strengthening community safety while supporting the continued growth and vitality of Market East. By working alongside the City and SEPTA, we are enhancing real-time response and building a more connected and resilient public safety infrastructure for Philadelphia."

This initiative establishes a scalable and sustainable model for executive oversight, operational alignment and risk-managed collaboration across agencies. Through shared leadership and integrated capabilities, the partnership is designed to address current and emerging public safety challenges, improve coordination and response outcomes and deliver measurable enhancements to public safety.
