Assemblymember Boerner Recognizes Earth Day Youth Art Contest Winners

SOLANA BEACH, CA. - Today, Assemblymember Tasha Boerner (D-Encinitas) recognized three students from Assembly District 77 for their "Green Choices, Bright Futures" themed artwork in honor of this year's Earth Day.

Assemblymember Boerner's Earth Day Youth Art Contest winners.

"Each year, I look forward to hosting my annual Earth Day Youth Art Contest because it reminds me to look at our planet through our children's eyes," stated Assemblymember Boerner. "This Earth Day, I encourage all of us to learn something from our kids. Look at life through their eyes and make sustainable choices for them. Let our Earth Day art contest winners inspire you to make greener decisions. When we do, we give our children and our children's children a brighter future and a longer life here on Earth."

Each year, Assemblymember Boerner hosts an Earth Day Art Contest in support of local young artists. These are this year's winners:

  • Best Creativity Award: Xin-Yang Saoirse Chen (La Jolla) - Torrey Pines Elementary School
  • Emerging Artist Award: Elena Mateljan (Cardiff) - St. Patrick's Catholic School
  • Contemporary Artist Award: Kolleen Yoon (Carmel Valley) - Canyon Crest Academy
