Washington, D.C. - The following statement in support of the "Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act" can be attributed to Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) President & CEO Karen Kerrigan:

"America needs to build, modernize and expand the infrastructure that will power economic growth, innovation and opportunity for decades to come. Yet, our outdated and unpredictable permitting system too often delays needed projects, drives up costs, and holds back investment."

"SBE Council strongly supports the Bipartisan American Affordability and Jobs Act and applauds Senators Shelley Moore Capito, Sheldon Whitehouse, Mike Lee and Martin Heinrich for forging a bipartisan agreement that brings greater certainty, accountability, and predictability to the federal permitting process. Small businesses are direct beneficiaries of reliable and affordable energy, modern transportation and water systems, expanded broadband and telecommunications networks, new manufacturing projects, and the infrastructure needed to support emerging technologies and economic growth. They are also the contractors, builders, suppliers, and service providers that make these projects happen in local communities across America. Establishing clearer timelines, modernizing environmental review and providing greater certainty once permits are issued will help unlock private investment, lower unnecessary costs, strengthen U.S. competitiveness and create opportunities for entrepreneurs and small businesses. This bipartisan agreement represents a significant leap forward toward a permitting system that allows America to build responsibly, innovate, and grow.
