Incident Reported in McKenzie County

BISMARCK, ND - The North Dakota Oil and Gas Division was notified of a valve/piping connection leak at the Maddy Federal 24X-34 well, approximately 14 miles east of Watford City, on November 4, 2025.

XTO Energy Inc. reported Tuesday that 408 barrels of produced water were released into containment on November 3, 2025. As of November 4, 2025, 408 barrels have been recovered.

A North Dakota Oil and Gas inspector has been to the location and will monitor any additional cleanup required.

Federal and state laws require operators to report the spillage of any materials that may pollute water, air or soil. Visit spill.nd.gov for more information about North Dakota's Unified Spill Reporting System notifications and the public access tool.
